Ask Akil Intelligence ("Akil," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Akil Ventures Inc., a Delaware corporation. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website at askakil.ai and related services (the "Service").

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials through our authentication provider. If you sign in via Google, we receive your name and email from Google's OAuth service.

Profile information. During onboarding you may voluntarily provide your role, organization name, focus areas, and borough. This is used solely to personalize your experience.

Query data. We store the questions you ask and the answers Akil generates so you can access your conversation history. Queries are processed through an AI language model.

Uploaded files. If you upload files (CSV, Excel, PDF) during a conversation, they are processed in real-time to answer your question. We do not store uploaded files on our servers. File contents exist only for the duration of your active session and are not retained after the conversation ends. We log file metadata only (filename, file type, file size) for service improvement — never the file contents.

Usage data. We automatically collect standard web analytics: pages visited, browser type, device type, and approximate location (country/region level). We do not use third-party tracking pixels or sell this data.

We use the information we collect to: provide and improve the Service; personalize your intelligence results based on your role and focus areas; maintain your conversation history; communicate with you about your account; detect and prevent abuse; and comply with legal obligations.

Akil queries publicly available government datasets at the city, state, and federal level. We do not collect or store private data about the organizations or individuals referenced in these public records beyond what is already publicly available.

We use third-party service providers to operate the Service, including for authentication, data storage, AI processing, hosting, and structured data access. These providers process your data only as necessary to provide their services to us and are bound by their own privacy policies. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

We retain your account data and query history for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@akilventures.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

We use industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted storage, and access controls. API keys and credentials are stored securely and never exposed to client-side code. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is 100% secure.

You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; export your data in a portable format; and withdraw consent for optional data processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@akilventures.com.

Akil is not intended for use by anyone under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We use essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using the Service.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
